NORMA continues to seek ways to develop the capacity of its staff to ensure that they have the proper capacity to carry out the work of NORMA. Under Title 24, NORMA is mandated to overlook the management and conservation of its fisheries stock for the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). Ensuring right capacity will ensure that the work of NORMA is carried out effectively and efficiently.
On December 23 2020, one of its staff, Mrs. Miorida Yee Ting was conferred the degree in Master of Maritime Policy through the University of Wollongong. Mrs. Miorida Yee Ting commenced her studies online with the University of Wollongong in Spring of 2018 and was awarded the degree in Master of Maritime Policy on December 23, 2020.
Mrs. Miorida Yee Ting is a mother of three and she works as the Manager Licensing at NORMA. According to Mrs. Yee Ting, the last year of her online studies was exceptionally more challenging with the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic on top of work, family and the community she came from. She is required to make difficult choices under these roles in order for her to complete the course. In her experience, prioritizing, planning and time management are very essential.
